MEAS – MIDDLE EAST AIRPORTS SERVICES S.A.L.

In line with the Lebanese Council of Ministers national privatization plan, Middle East Airports Services SAL (MEAS) was established on March 4th 1998 as a private independent company both administratively and financially,and fully owned by the Lebanese national carrier Middle East Airlines .

In February 1998, MEAS was retained by the government of Lebanon represented by the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) for the Operation and Maintenance of the new Beirut International Airport. MEAS first and immediate task was to transfer the operation activities from the old terminal building to the new terminal without interrupting the Airport operation and prepare for the Airport official inauguration in April 1998.

Seven years on, MEAS is today a fully fledged and recognized Operation and Maintenance Company. With a staff of over two hundred and fifty experienced and dedicated engineers and technicians, and 22 subcontractors, MEAS operates and maintains all facilities at Rafic Hariri International Airport-Beirut and Middle East Airlines facilities. It caters for the needs and requirements of over three million passengers a year and a resident population of five thousand between Airport Authority personnel, Civil Aviation, Customs officers, Airport Security, Public Security, Airlines employees and duty free shops. MEAS’s mission and objective is to properly operate and maintain the facilities of Beirut International Airport according to international quality standards. MEAS has an innate corporate culture that stresses on meeting and exceeding passengers, airlines, and airport staff needs and expectations through high level of services.

Emboldened by its success at Rafic Hariri International Airport-Beirut, MEAS is targeting other regional airports and public facilities that need management, operation & maintenance, and consultancy. The year 2005 may witness success in this endeavor.

A dedicated management team was chosen to handle MEAS intricate jobs; people of rich intellectual and academic backgrounds and with a high degree of expertise and professionalism.MEAS has a workforce of dedicated and well trained personnel in all fields, supported by specialized and professional subcontractors working under its directives. This is being in trend with the growing global financial management strategy. This strategy allows MEAS to embark on new projects ranging from consultancy to full implementation of Operation and Maintenance for airports and other facilities.

Furthermore, following the global trend of standardization and in pursuance for a higher degree of excellence, MEAS plans to be ISO 9001: 2000 certified by January 2005.

Airport Consultancy 
MEAS offers consultancy services for a range of functions and systems. A sample of these services includes Operation & Maintenance, Emergency & Contingency Plans, Quality Assurance, Safety & Security Systems, Building Automation and Control Systems.

Airport Facility Management
MEAS offers facility management services to airports and many other facilities. These services mainly cover Operation & Maintenance, Project Management, Contract Procurement, Human Resources Management, and Technical Support.
